Woron

Woron is a Scandinavian Brand based in Copenhagen, founded by sisters Arina and Anya Woron. Woron is vegan, cruelty free and a slow fashion brand. They use plant based fabrics, not only because they are great for your skin, but also because it is important for the creators of Woron: that no animals are being hurt in the process of the making of their products; so you will not find any leather, wool, silk etc. in their collections.

Every underwear garment is sewn from a sustainably sourced fabric called Lenzing Modal, which is a fine, smooth fiber made from beech wood. The Lenzing fiber is produced in Europe by turning the wood into pulp, extracting the fiber and then reconstituting the fiber so that it can be spun into fabric. The beech wood used in their Modal production is from sustainable forestry plantations growing native trees. Full integration at the Lenzing site makes it possible to produce the fibres in a CO2 neutral way. The fabric is cool to the touch and very absorbent, meaning less waste of water. Furthermore, the fabric is more resistant to shrinkage, fading and graying than cotton, thereby extending its lifespan. It is just great for underwear because it is both super soft (has a silky touch) that gives that luxurious feel that Woron is aiming for. It is also a fabric that is irritation free and naturally prevents the growth of bacteria.

Woron mainly works with a family owned factory in Hungary. The factory is ÖkoTex certified and until recently it was also GOTS certified (but due to a lack of demand, it was to costly for them to keep the certification, but they have managed to keep working under the same clean and strict regulations). The working regulations in Hungary are quite similar to the ones that are applicable in Germany and in most of the West and North European countries. The workers cannot be forced to work additional hours even in really busy periods. The factory offers their workers higher wages than the standard minimum wage (5-20% higher depending on the position, demand etc.). Furthermore, the factory is pretty much only run by women, employing mainly women and they offer some additional benefits for working mothers.

Recently Woron has started to work with a smaller Indian based manufacturer for their ‘add-on’ products. The reason behind this is because the 100% Organic Cotton that they use for the making of their luxurious wash bags originates from India. Woron cooperates with a family owned business, that works under and supports the local development of sustainable practices in the small Indian village that they are situated in.

Ships to: Europe, North-America, Canada, Australia & New Zealand.

Products: Everyday basics/classics within underwear, home wear and yoga wear.

Mission: We founded the company because of the strong desire to share our take on the perfect lingerie line. We realized that the first thing that we took off when we got home in the afternoon was always the bra; lowering the straps, un-hooking at the back and then followed by an “ahhhh…” of relief. Our aim is to create that lingerie, that will be the first thing you want to put on and the last thing you take off! It is comfort without sacrificing feminine shaping, fashion & style - and style without sacrificing sustainability.

Vision: We want to move the fashion industry in a sustainable direction. The industry is so vast and connects so many people and lives, but is has grown into a business of much pollution, exploitation etc. Our vision is, that we can be a part of the change; a change for better and cleaner, so that the fashion industry can once again be proud of its handcraft and its ability to connecting worlds.
