Mariana started White Rabbit out of a frustration with available underwear options. She was looking for sustainable, comfortable underwear and could not find what she was looking for. The underwear at White Rabbit is made by a family-owned manufacturer that only employs women, offers good working conditions like paid time off and social security, and pays fair wages. Furthermore, White Rabbit donates a percentage of every sale to Fabrica Social, a social enterprise that works to empower female artisans in rural communities. The manufacturer, of French origine, is based in Mexico City and has more than 100 years of experience in making lingerie.
White Rabbit underwear is made of extra-durable, breathable bamboo rayon. Bamboo is one of the fastest-growing, less-thirsty plants in the world making it a sustainable source of fiber for apparel fabrics. They work with an eco-friendly knitter that meets all safety and environmental standards.
Some pieces are made with stretchy lace. The lace used at White Rabbit is US made and requires more thread meaning more durable and less flimsy lace. If you want to know which pieces use lace and which bamboo, check here.
