O´Right
Steven Ko, founder of Hair O´Right International Corp., suffered from serious allergic symptoms. Then in 2002, when both his parents passed away from kidney disease and cancer, Steven decided to do something to help people stay away from heavy metals and harmful chemicals. He launched his hair care company with the ultimate aim of changing the chemical ridden environment. In September 2006, O´Right successfully evolved into a green brand. With "It´s O´Right" as mission statement and the letter "O" as a symbol of the beautiful earth, Steven decided to do things that are good for the earth.
At O'right the focus is on making the most sustainable shampoo. A natural shampoo is not only healthier for humans, but also has a smaller environmental impact. All of O´Right´s products are free from: hormones, parabens, formaldehyde, colorants, phthalates, sulfate surfactants, DEA and Ethylene Oxide. Furthermore, all of O´Right´s products are gluten-free and most of them are vegan. To support animal welfare, O´Right doesn't test on animals and applies alternatives to animal testing when developing new formulas.
As the first GMP (Good Manufacturing Practice) certified green cosmetics plant in Asia, the O´Right Green Headquarters is recognized with Taiwan EEWH Green Building Gold Certificate and certified with various ISO certifications. It is built according to the most modern and sustainable production standards in cosmetics. O´Right produces a very special kind of bottle: the Tree in the Bottle shampoo. The bottle, recognized with the Red Dot Design Award in 2013, is made of PLA and can be buried in the soil. Under proper environmental conditions, the bottle will decompose and become fertilizer in the course of 1 year. The bottle has seeds embedded at the bottom and these will sprout and grow into a tree after the bottle breaks down. Seeds of native tree species are selected because they adapt well to the local environment and post no threat to other native plants. Another ecofriendly packaging of O´Right is the floral box. These boxes are made from paper from responsibly managed forest and printed with ecofriendly soy ink. A small piece of flower seed paper made from recycled plant waste is attached to the box and the whole box can be buried and you will have a lovely garden after the seeds sprout. The caps of the shampoo bottles are made from bamboo, a sustainable and fast-growing material.
