When Sissi Rasche, co-founder of LILLYDOO, became a mother in 2011 she made sure that the products she used for her baby were free of perfume, parabens and PEG´s. She committed the same importance to the production of diapers and wipes for LILLYDOO. The products, made in Europe and developed in cooperation with midwives, are free of any nasty ingredients, like endocrine disruptors, perfume, PEG´s, parabens, chlorine, glyphosate and dioxine.
LILLYDOO diapers and wipes are Oeko-Tex® Standard 100 in product class 1 for babies certified and are checked for harmful chemicals. They are soft, comfortable and very absorbent.
Although the products are free from nasty ingredients, they are not made out of biodegradable material. LILLYDOO explains why: "We create our products with the environment in mind. However, for us, nothing is more important than the well-being of your babies. And that is significantly impacted by the products your baby comes into contact with every day. That’s why LILLYDOO products are not just absorbent but also skin-friendly. We try to live up to that ideal, while at the same time protecting our environment as well.
For that reason, our diapers are made of chlorine-free bleached cellulose from certified sustainable forestry production (FSC). Instead of adhesive, we use an environmentally-friendly ultrasound technique to seal the wings of the diaper. For our LILLYDOO wipes, both the towel and lotion are 100% biodegradable. They can simply be thrown into the compost. Our LILLYDOO boxes, that we use to bring our products to our customers, come from FSC certified forests in which the wood is produced according to the highest social and ecological standards. And in order to reduce our ecological footprint even more, we manufacture our products in Europe to prevent long shipping routes. Only when it comes to absorbency and keeping our diapers skin-friendly do we resort to standard materials that are also found in most other disposable diapers. For instance, we use tiny microperls, or so-called super absorbers, that can take in a volume of water many times their own size. These little balls ensure that your baby’s sensitive backside won’t get wet – that’s often what causes diaper rash. A more ecological alternative that provides the same level of performance doesn’t exist yet, in our opinion."
