Fabelab

Fabelab, founded in 2013 by Michaela Weisskirchner-Barfod, is a playful organic Scandinavian children's interior brand that believes in creating high quality, innovative and responsibly made products for a cosy and creative home. From their Copenhagen studio, they design products that encourage curiosity and imagination. The products are multipurpose and grow with the family, gathering stories and memories along the way.

The name Fabelab comes from the words fable and laboratory. Fable, as in fabulation or storytelling and laboratory for how they work with the stories that inspire them. At Fabelab they firmly believe in storytelling and make-believe. They create products that inspire children and their parents to be creative and playful, broadening horizons and encouraging understanding and empathy. Innovative children’s products for everyday use that are made responsibly and with love. Products that stimulate children’s senses and imagination throughout every stage of their development, becoming an integral part of their play universe. Beauty and functionality are at the forefront of their design process. Like the blankets that can also be folded into beautiful birds. The inspiration to the bird blankets comes from old origami techniques and the color combinations are calming and beautiful. The blanket can be used wrapped around infants and as your baby grows, you can use it flat or even as a toy.

Many of Fabelab´s products are made with organic cotton from their GOTS-certified partner company in India. As part of Fabelab new initiatives is the subbrand; Mini Makers. Mini Makers is a universe, where paper packaging is turned into sweet and interactive craft projects for little ones. Upcycling and reusability are core tenets of Fabelab, and they work to ensure that everything they make has a dual purpose.
