Eco Pea

Adrian Pereira and his wife Kelly founded The Eco Pea Company when one of their children reacted negatively to regular diapers and wipes. They decided to explore and create a healthier solution, one suitable for babies with sensitive skin and one that was more ecologically friendly than existing brands.

They did a lot of research and discovered that an incredible amount of waste is created by diapers. Just think about how many diapers a day a baby uses, and how many days there are in diaper wearing years. And regular disposable diapers, which are made mainly with petroleum-based plastics, take centuries to decompose (read more on diapers here). So in their quest to make a better diaper for their baby, they wanted to create a better diaper for the planet...their kids' planet (well, everybody´s kids´ planet). Their search led them to bamboo, a material that is sustainable, eco-friendly, easily replenished, and biodegradable. Bamboo gives a soft, non-irritating texture while protecting children´s sensitive skin. Eco Pea´s diapers are free of irritating chemicals and fragrances, are 100% biodegradable, and will take only a few months to begin decomposition. Furthermore, Eco Pea doesn’t test on animals and their products are vegan. To further demonstrate their commitment to environmental protection and sustainability, even the packaging for these diapers is made using more biodegradable material. Eco Pea diapers are made from 85% biodegradable materials. There are plastics in their diapers, like super absorbent polymer (SAP), which you’ll find in almost all eco-friendly diapers, but the majority of the diaper is plant-based.

Adrian and Kelly want to continue to create consumer products that help push forward their eco-focused agenda. They hope through their success they can show others there’s almost always a way to design a product that is kinder to our planet. Our children’s planet and our grandchildren’s planet.
