Aligne´s womenswear collections are always designed with the future in mind; contemporary pieces crafted in conscious materials that have been carefully selected due to their green credentials and sustainable nature. One of these materials is organic cotton. Organic cotton uses natural processes and fertilizers that are free from toxic chemicals or GMOs (genetically modified organisms). Regular cotton is one of the most heavily polluting crops, using 16% of the world’s insecticides and 10% of the world’s pesticides. These nasties can harm land, poison water, and endanger the people and wildlife that rely on these resources. It takes around 2,700 litres of water to create a regular cotton t-shirt. Organic cotton is 80% rain-fed, which reduces the pressure on local water sources. Plus, no nasty chemicals means a cleaner, safer H2O for all. Organic cotton is fairly-traded and regulated, protecting the lives of farmers and their families, while creating a healthy and sustainable farming future.
Another material used by Aligne is recycled polyester. By using this, the label gives a second chance for a non-biodegradable material that might otherwise end up in landfill or our oceans. By using recycled polyester, the demand for new petroleum extraction is lowered, reducing the overall carbon footprint and considering the climate - recycled polyester production creates 75% less CO₂ emissions than virgin polyester.
An innovative material used by Aligne is EcoVero™. This fabric is created using significantly lower emissions compared to standard viscose, the super-soft fibers are produced using pulp taken from renewable resource wood. Throughout the supply chain, Aligne is transparent about its practices. From everyday workplace standards to ethical audits like SMETA (Sedex Members Ethical Trade Audit), The label only partners with factories that are committed to change through their practices, like zero waste, waterless production and renewable energy. Every product is finished with Aligne´s sleek, branded swing tag, crafted from sustainably sourced, recycled paper and topped with an organic cotton cord.
Also Aligne´s packaging is as sustainable as possible. Your order will be packaged inside a box made from sustainable sourced, recycled cardboard. Only biodegradable poly bags ar used, designed from a non-food starch tuber (European directive EN 13432 standard) that’s printed with water-based inks.
